From Commitment to Delivery: Securing the Adult Social Care Workforce

Practical recommendations on retention, migration and reform from the APPG for Adult Social Care and the APPG on Migration

The APPG for Adult Social Care is delighted to have published a new paper jointly with the APPG on Migration, setting out practical recommendations on retention, migration and reform for the adult social care workforce.

The paper follows the parliamentary roundtable held on 9th June 2026, examining the pressures facing the workforce following changes to the Health and Care Worker visa route, and lands at a timely moment as the Prime Minister commits to immediate action on pay, training, progression and job security, and government accelerates the Casey Commission and the Big Conversation on Care.
