The APPG on Adult Social Care’s Working Group
The work of the APPG is supported through a Working Group which meets regularly to discuss priorities and advise the Officers of the group based on its insight and expertise. The membership of the APPG’s Working Group is as follows:
Anchor is England’s largest provider of specialist housing and care for older people. The group was formed following the successful merger of Hanover Housing Association and Anchor Trust. Anchor manages retirement villages and has more than 54,000 homes and 114 care homes. The group operates in more than 90% of local councils in England.
Caretech Community Services operates 350 services across the UK. It provides support for Adults, Children and Young people with complex and challenging behaviours associated with Autism, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health and Neurological conditions. Services include residential care, education, clinical and a range of supported living schemes including individual flats, houses and grouped accommodation arrangements.
Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. It supports over 3,500 people across England and Scotland with a wide range of needs including learning difficulties, mental health concerns, autism, physical disabilities and age-related needs. The charity employs over 6,000 colleagues and was awarded the prestigious accolade of "Charity of the Year" at the 2019/20 Charity Times Awards.
Dimensions is a leading not-for-profit care provider that supports around 3,500 people with learning disabilities and autism across England and Wales. Dimensions works with over 90 local councils and clinical commissioning groups across the country as well as providing services direct to families who have personal budgets.
Affinity Trust is a specialist provider of support to people with learning disabilities. The charity supports 1,000 people working with 31 Local Authorities across England and Scotland. The vast majority of support is provided through Supported Living and includes specially designed schemes to enable people with learning disabilities to leave hospital and award winning PBS support for children and young people.
Home Group operates as a housing association and developer in addition to providing integrated health, housing and social care services. In the last year, the group has worked with over 20,000 vulnerable people through supported health and housing schemes. Amongst others, Home Group supports people with mental ill health, learning disabilities and/or autism.
Nourish Care is an electronic care planning provider that works with a range of different care services, offering a flexible digital platform that allows you to record at the point of care. The most important goal for Nourish is to enable carers to spend less time on admin, and more time providing face-to-face, person-centred care. Nourish also allows carers to record, monitor and analyse the health of those they support in order to tailor care plans to suit the individual’s needs.
Methodist Homes (MHA) is a national charity providing care, accommodation and support services for over 18,500 older people in the UK. The group operates 90 specialist care homes, 70 retirement villages and 62 community groups which enable older people to live independently. MHA relies on 7,500 staff members and 4,000 volunteers to support the delivery of its services.
National Care Forum (NCF) works directly with over 115 not-for-profit social care and support providers across the UK. We support members to improve social care provision & enhance the quality of life, choice, control & well-being of people who use care services. We also keep our members up-to-date with developments in the social care sector and represent the voice of our members to decision makers and key stakeholders.
Shared Lives Plus’ vision is kinder, stronger society built on sharing our lives and our homes. We build communities where everyone lives a full life, regardless of the support they need. We do this by developing shared living into a popular lifestyle, with the right structures in place for our members and those sharing their lives and homes. Our members are 6,000 Shared Lives carers, 150 Shared Lives schemes and a growing network of over 25 local Homeshare organisations.
Skills for Care (SfC) is an independent registered charity working with 21,500 social care employers to equip millions of social care workers with the skills and knowledge they need to deliver high quality care. SfC also provides support for the development of managers and leaders in the sector through various programmes and networking opportunities.
Think Local Act Personal (TLAP) is a partnership of more than 50 organisations committed to transforming health and care through personalisation and community-based support. TLAP brings together people who use services and carers with key stakeholders including central and local government, the NHS and the provider sector.
The National Co-Production Advisory Group (NCAG) is a part of TLAP and works to promote personalised and asset based support at a national, regional and local level. The group’s members all have lived experience of accessing social care services and ensure that NCAG’s activity is fully co-produced with a wider group of people who access care services, carers and citizens.
