Parliamentary Reception with Minister For care
On Wednesday 4th June, the All Party Parliament Group (APPG) for Adult Social Care hosted an impactful parliamentary reception, bringing together carers, people with lived experience and representatives from care providers and organisations, to meet with Members of Parliament (MPs) and discuss the key areas that they would like to see the Casey Commission on Adult Social Care focus on.
The reception offered a valuable opportunity for attendees to share their incredibly valuable personal experiences and concerns directly with MPs, ensuring that the voices of those most affected by social care policy are heard in Westminster.
Over 25 MPs attended the event, among them were APPG Chair Sojan Joseph MP, Chair of the Carers APPG Anna Dixon MP, and Minister of the State for the Department of Health and Social Care, Stephen Kinnock MP.
In her closing remarks, Anna Dixon MP for Shipley reaffirmed Parliament’s dedication to driving forward real, empowering and sustainable change, stating “We must ensure that what is committed to is delivered.” Accountability was brought up many times throughout the reception and she furthered emphasised the importance of it, adding: “It is vital that we make sure that what we say, we do.”
